The Deepest Roots Miranda Asebedo Books

As a teacher of high school students in a rural Kansas town, I am constantly searching for a novel that will capture my students' attention, and boy can I tell you, The Deepest Roots is it. My students devoured the novel, passed it around, and bought their own copies. The author did a visit at their school, and they eagerly talked to her about how they related to the setting (a small Kansas town much like their own), the characters (young women who reminded them of themselves), and to the overall tone of the novel. High schoolers have a keen sense for authenticity. When they smell bull, they call it. However, this novel struck them as true to what they knew about themselves, and they appreciated it so much more as a result. The story is exciting, with deft plot twists, and the remarkable tone that balances the realistic and the supernatural is nothing short of magical in itself. Get it for yourself or your teen for Christmas. You won't be disappointed.

The Deepest Roots Miranda Asebedo Books Reviews

Gift for Christmas - I have only skimmed the book. I will read during Christmas vacation.
Great book! Original and touching. I shared it with my mom and my daughter.
This book left my heart warm and my eyes teary! I loved the dynamic of Rome and her friends, the world, the thrills, the eerie, cursed, and haunted vibes. It was all so beautifully woven together and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this book. I can’t wait to read the future books Miranda releases!
I read the entire book the same day I received it. My kids might have created major chaos while I was caught up in the story, but thankfully, toys can be cleaned up and no one sustained serious injuries while I was otherwise occupied.

Great book! It exceeded my expectations.
The Deepest Roots is a magical story about tight friendships. I can relate a lot to this book, not only because I have grown up in a town in Kansas much like Cottonwood Hollow, but also because I feel like my close friendships really helped shape me as a person when I was in high school. It's very easy for a reader to feel a kinship to any of the characters, and see themselves in one of them, or even all of them. Rome's snark reminds me of my own, and I appreciate her motivation to work hard. It's a breath of fresh air to read a story about someone who doesn't have everything handed to them easily, and works a hard job outside of school. I think this is an excellent read for anyone looking for a bit of magic in their every day lives.
The Deepest Roots is a fantastic debut novel. The story revolves around three best friends (Rome, Lux, and Mercy) and the mystery surrounding their town. Each character is richly developed and distinct, and while there are a few romantic storylines in the novel, the primary relationship is the one between the three friends. The writing is beautifully crafted, the story is compelling, and it takes only a few chapters for the reader to become deeply invested in these three young women. Asebedo does such a lovely job telling the story of friendship, families, and small town life. It's just a delightful to read.
Well, I happen to know the author, but I hope I am still credible when I say I think this book was really good. It's not the kind of fiction I usually read, but I especially enjoyed the lead character, the dialogue, and the way the story built all the way to the end. The magical premise did not intrude on the gritty realness of the female characters, but added just the right amount of mystery.
